Everything you need to know about Brazilian Waxing

People have different stands when it comes to hair on their bodies. Things like “No Shave November” arethere for those who love facial hair. However, some people get irritated by any hair that grows below their eyes.

In particular, Brazilian Waxing is the removal of hair (mostly around the pubic area) with special wax which ensures that no hair is left behind. After a Brazilian Waxing session you will be bald as a newborn baby. Or rather like a plucked chicken. But it’s all good, who wants hair on her most intimate part anyway?

Brazilian waxing is mostly famous among women than men. But this doesn’t mean that men should shy off from getting waxed. Nothing can go wrong with a smooth and silky skin.

Basic things you need to know about Brazilian waxing:

It gets better with time

Waxing is all about plucking hair from its hair follicles. Well, whoever said that beauty is pain, there was a high chance he/she was about to get a bikini wax. The procedure is painful but all for a worthy course and, it gets better with time. If you get a bikini wax regularly your hair follicle becomesweak and this means that it won’t hurt that much when the hair is plucked. It is recommended that you get a bikini wax at least once every 3 weeks.

Have it grow to the right size

For your hair to be waxed effectively it has to be no less than ¼ of an inch and no more than ½ of an inch. If yourhair is then than ¼ of an inch you will be asked to go back home and have the hair grow to the right size. To most people especially if it is the first time it can get pretty awkward. I mean, you will have to get naked spread out your legs good to have the area around the labia waxed as well as the butt cheeks. As weird and awkward as it might get, always have in mind that the person attending to you is a professional and most probably have seen way a lot more.

Take a shower

This is obvious but worth being reminded of anyway. Before going for a bikini wax see to it that you take a shower. For reasons known best by all of us on this particular day thoroughly clean the area to be waxed.

Avoid sex or any workout

The skin around the waxed area gets very sensitive after the procedure. For this reason,it is recommended that one should abstain from sex for at least 36 hours to allow time for the skin to heal. You should also not engage in any vigorous activities that will make you sweaty down there. Also, wear loose clothes a skirt will do the trick and some not so tight underwear.

The time of the monthmatters

Don’t book an appointment for a bikini wax when you are just a week to your periods. During this time the skin is very sensitive and will make the whole procedure uncomfortable and very painful.

Laser vs Wax? We Settle Which Method Is The Best Against Unwanted Hair

It's not hard to get rid of unwanted hair. Razors can be found in most convenience and grocery stores, and they do a pretty good job if you're diligent about it.

Of course, life gets pretty busy to put aside time every few days, and the cost of replacing razors can really start to add up. Not to mention the water costs, shaving cream, etc...

The alternatives can seem intimidating. Several movies and TV shows have done the whole "body waxing bit," and the mere idea of shooting lasers at your skin can seem a little far-fetched, but these methods are both safe and effective.

So which one is the best? Let's look at some of the pros and cons to waxing and laser hair removal.

To Wax, or not to Wax?

Just the mere mention of waxing is enough to elicit a cringe, and while the procedure can be somewhat painful, many people don't know the measures that can be taken to almost guarantee a smooth waxing experience.

When you're looking at two to six weeks of smooth skin per session, grinning and bearing it through a wax session can be an appealing prospect, and the more you wax, the less uncomfortable it becomes.

Plus if it's done right, the wax should pull at the follicle, not at your skin.

What can make waxing more uncomfortable? Drinking coffee or alcohol before a session. Alcohol tightens pores, which are the holes the follicles need to come out of!

The downside to waxing is that it does require some growth in order to be effective - experts recommend anywhere from an eight to quarter inch. Make sure the spa you go to uses high-quality wax for a smoother experience!

Lasers That Zap That Unwanted Hair

Lasers were always made out to be a sci-fi fantasy, but they're being used to accomplish some incredible things in this day and age, but rather than ponder the miracles of modern science and medicine you're probably wondering how lasers can help get rid of that unwanted hair.

In a laser hair removal treatment, lasers penetrate the skin and target the unwanted hair shafts, effectively killing the follicle. This results in a much longer time before the hair grows back.

Laser hair removal is safe for all skin types, even the most sensitive skin. While treatment can bring slight discomfort, it is far less than what can be experienced with waxing, especially for more sensitive individuals.

While it's effective for all skin types, it may not work for all hair types. Those with darker body hair (especially in contrast to their complexion) are prime candidates.

Considering the cost over time of shaving and waxing, laser hair removal might be the most affordable, long-term option for getting rid of unwanted hair.

The Bottom Line

Between waxing and laser treatments, It really comes down to a case-by-case basis. If you have light body hair, you may want to go with waxing, if you have darker hair, or are looking for a more permanent solution, it may be worth investing in a few laser treatments.

Whatever the case, it's important to know that there's a solution for anyone's unwanted hair that is razor-bump free and saves time in the long run, you just have to know who to ask.

Waxing 101: Eyebrow to Bikini, What You Need to Know

Are you thinking about switching to waxing? If you've never done it before or have only done it a few times, we're going to answer your questions in this post. Keep reading to learn everything you need to know about waxing.

What You Need to Know About Waxing

Waxing can help you look and feel your best for summer when more of your skin is going to be exposed. Before your first appointment, keep these tips in mind:

Let Your Hair Grow First

Refrain from shaving at least five days before your appointment. If you don't let the hair grow in first, the wax won't have anything to grab onto and it won't work.

The hair should be about a quarter-inch to a half-inch, or about the size of a grain of rice, for best results. Let it grow closer to a half-inch if you have coarse hair. After a few waxes, your hair will become finer and will be able to be waxed at a shorter length.

Know that it can take up to three waxing treatments to get that silky smooth skin. This is because your hair grows in stages and all of your hair is always at different stages. Avoid shaving between appointments because this interrupts the process and makes the hair grow again.

Make Waxing a Regular Thing

Book your waxing appointments every four to five weeks. Being consistent with a routine is essential because it makes the skin less sensitive. Over time, the hairs will come out easier.

In addition, your hair may grow less over time as you keep waxing.

Be Cautious of Certain Medications and Products

If you're planning to have a waxing appointment soon, know that there are certain products and medications that can make the skin more sensitive. This can increase your risk for irritation and other complications.

Retin-A, Renova, and hydroquinone are a few topical exfoliants to steer clear from. Also avoid oral acne medications like Accutane, blood-thinning medications, and cortisone.

Don't Shower Beforehand

Avoid taking a shower or bath right before your waxing appointment. If your hair is soft, it can break more easily and make waxing less effective.

Everyone's Skin has Different Reactions

You'll likely experience redness and some minor irritation for the first couple days after your waxing treatment. You may have some itchiness as the hair grows out too. Take proper care of your skin after your wax to alleviate these symptoms.

Since everyone has different reactions to waxing, you may want to experiment enough time ahead of a special event. Book an appointment for a month in advance to see how your skin reacts. If all goes well, plan to come back a week before your event.

Post-Wax Skin Care

It is possible that you may get ingrown hairs. To avoid that from happening, keep your skin gently exfoliated.

Two days after your wax, use a gentle scrub to exfoliate the area. Tea tree and lavender oil work well because their antimicrobial and antibacterial properties work to prevent irritation. Keep exfoliating once or twice a week.

Also, wear loose-fitting clothes in the few days following your appointment to let your skin breathe. You want to reduce moisture in the areas where you were waxed so the hair follicle doesn't receive any bacteria. Avoid heavy exercise for at least two days after waxing.

Smooth for the Summer

Now that you know what to expect, what are you waiting for? Take advantage of our summer specials and get a Brazilian wax! Never worry about an overgrown bikini line while you're at the beach this summer!
